Botanix Labs announces today the appointment of security expert and industry veteran Ron Stoner as its new Head of Security. With this addition, the Botanix Labs team is uniquely positioned to develop industry-leading infrastructure that securely scales Bitcoin-native financial tools.

Ron Stoner brings a wealth of experience in designing and testing blockchain-based networks as one of the most respected hackers, educators, and security professionals in the cryptocurrency industry. As Head of Security, he will be responsible for ensuring strict security standards for internal operations at Botanix Labs and its development of the Spiderchain by working closely with research and engineering teams at the company.

Prior to joining Botanix Labs, Stoner served as a Senior Security Engineer at ShapeShift and later as the Head of Security at Casa. Stoner is a noted speaker at cryptocurrency and security conferences like DEFCON and develops educational tools that have become industry standards, including his work in authoring the CryptoCurrency Security Standard Auditor (CCSSA) exam and his contributions as a member of the CryptoCurrency Security Standard (CCSS) Committee at C4.

“Ron has been a stalwart for the best security practices in our industry for years,” said Armin Sabouri, Co-Founder and CTO at Botanix Labs. “Our team will benefit immensely from his extensive leadership and expertise. We welcome his leadership and look forward to how his insights, experience and guidance will contribute to work in building secure and reliable Bitcoin infrastructure.”

Ron Stoner added, “Botanix Labs is one of the most innovative and ambitious teams working to scale Bitcoin and accelerate its adoption as the foundation for a new global financial system. It’s a privilege to play a pivotal role in this mission.”

Stoner’s appointment comes as Botanix Labs continues to improve the testnet version of its Bitcoin-based protocol in preparation for the mainnet launch this summer.
